JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) is a lightweight file format designed to make JPEG images easy to share and compatible across platforms. It follows the JPEG standard and uses the same lossy compression as JPG files. Common extensions related to JFIF include .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .jif, and .jfi—renaming between them does not change image quality or structure.
In practice, a JFIF file is functionally identical to a JPG file; only the file extension name differs.
